Go For Two: Games of the week

Games to watch:

Lions at Bears:  With Aaron Rodgers breaking his collarbone it definitely adds intensity to this game. We don’t know how well Seneca Wallace will do. However, with all of the injuries and how high the competition is in this division, Green Bay can ill afford to fall behind even a game, certainly not two. Therefore, the stakes are high with this divisional game. Any chance the Lions or the Bears have in taking a lead will be critical to winning this division.

Eagles at Packers:  All eyes will be on Seneca Wallace. He performed poorly against the Bears. However, the defense didn’t do much to help limit the bleeding. The Packers put up 20 points without Rodgers … if the defense could have limited the scoring of a backup quarterback, they would have gotten the “W”. So this game against the Eagles isn’t just about losing Rodgers — it’s about the defense being able to help out what will inevitably be a struggling offense trying to figue out life after Rodgers.

Honorable mentions:

Panthers at 49ers: I like that Carolina fans have something to get behind this year. I really do. However, in the immortal words of Aretha Franklin “Ain’t No Way.” Seriously, Ain’t No Way the Panthers beat the San Francisco 49ers, in San Francisco, with the Niners coming off a bye. R-E-S-P-E-C-T to Cam Newton and Steve Smith, but, it’s a “W” in the 49ers column.

Broncos at Chargers: I get it. Divisional game. So maybe some people will want to see this. However, it’s a 7-1 team against a Rivers led 4-4 team. Question for some will be how the team gets along without Fox. I think they will be just fine — especially with Peyton as quarterback.

Go For Two: Dolphins versus Falcons

What’s the game of the week! Hmmm. Who should I pick to highlight …. ?

Uhh …. no one?

Week 3’s games are yawn producing. Giants versus Panthers? Meh. Rams versus Cowboys? Meh. Browns versus Vikings? Double meh.

I’m trying to be a better blogger, and not just pick the Packers versus Bengals because the Packers are my team. Although, they may be one of the only competitive games between two potential playoff contenders.

However, the game of the week is the 2-0 Miami Dolphins versus the 1-1 Atlanta Falcons.

Here’s why I am picking it as the game of the week.

The first point is easy. The Dolphins are 2-0. Yes. You read that right. The Miami Dolphins are 2-0. So far they have won against the Browns (meh), but they also played the Colts. That makes it a bit more interesting.

The AFC East looks just terrible. Not to say the Patriots won’t get their act together, but the rookie wide receivers weren’t the only problem with the Pats offense. Tom Brady looked messy, inaccurate. I can’t believe more people didn’t comment about the passes he threw behind players.

So all I am saying is that it’s worth watching the Dolphins to see how they look this year. How do they compare to the Patriots? Can the Dolphins win against a great team like the Atlanta Falcons?

This is the Dolphins chance to prove they can play with the big boys. They may have a chance this year, with the Jets and Geno Smith looking awful, and the Patriots looking like they have lost their veneer.

As always, go Pack.

On a side note, I want a taunting penalty on Marshawn Lynch. What a classless display walking into the end zone like that. Just highlights how adolescent the Seahawks behavior is.
